Fall Protection Class Description:

In our comprehensive Fall Protection Class, we prioritize the safety and well-being of individuals working at heights by providing thorough instruction and hands-on training in the proper use of fall protection systems. Our program covers a wide range of essential topics to ensure participants are well-equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate elevated work environments securely.  At a minimum, the course covers the following content as required by WorkSafeBC under section 11.

1. Types of Fall Protection Systems:

  • Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of various fall protection systems, including guardrails, safety nets, personal fall arrest systems, and other relevant options.

2. Review of Manufacturer’s Instructions:

  • Emphasis on reviewing manufacturer's instructions or professional engineer's guidance related to fall protection equipment. This includes proper use, installation, inspection, maintenance, storage, and criteria for taking equipment out of service.

3. Proper Methods of PPE Usage:

  • Detailed instruction on the correct methods of donning, doffing, adjusting, and interconnecting any personal protective equipment integral to the fall protection system.

4. Attachment Points:

  • Identification and understanding of proper attachment points on equipment to ensure effective and secure connection of the fall protection system.

5. Compatibility of Components:

  • Explanation of the compatibility of different components within the fall protection system to guarantee seamless and safe integration.

6. Limitations of the System:

  • Discussion on the limitations of the fall protection system to ensure participants understand its capabilities and potential constraints.

7. Anchor Installation:

  • Comprehensive coverage of anchor installation, including anchorage criteria, use, attachment points, maintenance, inspection, and strength requirements.

8. Anchor Layout:

  • Instruction on proper anchor layout to maximize the effectiveness of the fall protection system.

9. Procedures and Fall Protection Plans:

  • Overview of any specific procedures and fall protection plans applicable to the particular worksite or system, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.

10. Emergency Rescue Procedures:

  • In-depth training on emergency rescue procedures, equipping participants with the skills and knowledge to respond effectively in the event of a fall.
